Last.fm has been helping a lot, as well.

Most of my music comes from a music sharing group I belong to, every day or two I get a new album sent to my e-mail inbox, it's a pretty easy way of finding new music. As far as absolute new music (i.e. music not from other people) I use last.fm to find new artists, then usually a blog that has the album uploaded so I can download it and listen to it. I have been thinking about doing an experiment in the future where I do nothing but listen to the radio for a full 24 hours.

While cleaning the house yesterday i had the radio on downstairs throughout the day on XFM (my first foray into radio for nearly 6 years) and it was distinctly average. I swear i heard the new Linkin Park song 3 times, lazy playlisting!

Literally the only reason I listen to the radio these days is to keep up with the football on BBC Radio 5 and hear Alan Green dig himself deeper holes among varying circles of fans with every broadcast. Haven't listened to it for musical purposes since I was taking a taxi in and out of school a good 6 or 7 years ago. And that wasn't exactly by choice either.

I worked at K-Mart, and they have their own stupid little radio station. For some reason, they find a reason to play Green Day's "Warning", Ashley Simpson's "LOVE", Boston's "Amanda," and Elvis Costello's "Alison" at least three times a day. |

I mostly find new music through talking to you all, my "real life" friends and just endless sampling and searching on the internet. Let's face it. In today's world, we've got to do a little bit of work to find something worthwhile. I've found some amazing tunes through MB, though. Just wish I had more time.

Believe it or not, they are probably being paid to play those songs on high rotation... I work in a grocery store and i know the feeling..... the same old songs day in, day out, you can almost set your watch by what time they come on.... infuriating!
