People, usually "metalheads", who judge a band's/musician's greatness soley on technical proficiency. They're usually the same people who love to talk sh!t about hip-hop, which also pisses me off. C'mon people, a handful of style is worth a bucketload of skill anyday.

So true

I remember a while back on another forum mainly full of metalheads being lynched for suggesting that Dream Theater were bloody awful

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

whereas style is important, music is skill. you can not play instruments be stylish, and go act or something. but you ain't got the skillz to pay the billz than get the **** out.

technical proficiency is good up until the music starts to have no emotion or vibe to it.

Oh so true, bands like Dream Theater fall under this category. All skill but no fun what so ever to listen to.
