Gorgoroth didn't really pave anything. Bands like Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone, and Immortal (as you have mentioned) are far more influential.

And what does Metaloclaypse have anything to do with Black Metal specifically?

If any bm fans like the depressive/suicidal side, check out Make a Change... Kill Yourself - s/t. Despite the amusing name, they're actually pretty good. Abyssic Hate are another good band, although I've only got one album: Suicide Emotions. Oh and the new Gris album is pure genuis!

Any Weakling fans out there? I got into them via a massive fan on another forum and have to say Dead as Dreams is a masterpiece...

Depressive black metal is in general awful.

I've always found black metal laughably bad aside from a few bands.

Solefald
Rotting Christ
Ludicra
Cradle Of Filth (are still better than Xasthur will ever be)
Scholomance
Aker****e
Old Man's Child
Weakling
Silencer
Alcest (though something about them seems more doom than black to me)

I like Ulver when they're not playing black metal, but find their black metal to be awful.

Arcturus seem a bit too avant garde to toss in with black metal but I like them a bit.

Bathory's viking metal stuff

Viking metal in general, though I hate lumping it in with black metal because of how awesomely folky it can be.

not my area of expertise but I love 'Them' by King Diamond, I guess that's early black metal.
Napalm Death are alot too but more erm... death metal?

edit: somebody do a death metal compilation. it's the way forward
