'the ocean- led zeppelin.'

this song is so simple yet so powerful, its a really amazing track.

'under the bridge- red hot chili peppers"

this song really has alot of meaning to it, and the band's playing to it matches it perfectly.

'all along the watchtower- hendrix'

another powerful piece, a great cover. and a real symbol of that era.

'while my guitar gently weeps- the beatles'

the music in this song is amazing with clapton soloing and paul's piano it makes the song legendary.

'sunshine of love- clapton'

any1 in the world can easily reconise this song as soon as those few chords sound. really great music.

-and these songs arent in any particular order.

and im really glad the maker of this thread wrote "opinion of course" after the title. theres a heap of users here arguring over wat band is better, which is really stupid. everyone has different tastes, who are they to say their genre is better?

Iron man is popular and rightly so! An extremly heavy doom laden song

War pigs gotta get a mention as well imho as well as Deep Purple - Black Night!

It has been done, and it was recently. I started it because I was listening to Layla, oddly enough, but I was thinking more opening riffs than riffs in general.

I can't pick only 5, I tried then... couldnt do it. Sunshine of Your Love was definetly on it though.

Kinks - You really got me/Wild thing
Air - Sexy Boy
Eric Clapton - Layla
Roy Orbitson - Pretty Woman
Stripes - Fell in love with a girl
Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing time
Robert Palmer - Addicted to love
Cream - Sunshine of your love
Animals - House of the rising sun
New Order - Blue Monday
Trail of Dead - Another morning stoner
Breeders - Cannonball
Hendrix - Purple Haze/Foxy Lady
Undertones - Teenage Kicks
Guns n Roses - Sweet Child of Mine
Beck - Peaches n Cream
Joy Division - Love will tear us apart
Blondie - Atomic
Led Zep - kashmir
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Nick Cave - Girl you'll be a woman soon
The Who - The seeker
PJ Harvey - This is love
Queens of the Stone Age - Feelgood hit of the Summer/No one Knows
Rolling stones - Paint it Black
Sheryl Crowe - All I wanna do (Stop laughing :p)
Sonic Youth - 100%
