I would have to go with Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) and Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me).
Big inspirations.

Why have I not heard any mention of James LaBrie? D= Joey Belladonna?! I know it's a stretch, but Mustaine, mebbe? He can't really sing, but a lot of people like that. I mena, look at Bob Dylan! xD
I have two names to add. ROB HALFORD. (As Scottsy said) Devin Townsend!

i agree, devin townsend is amazing he can do it all. listen to anything from strapping young lad then listen to Ih-Ah from the cd addicted two completely different styles and he nails em both. although im a much bigger fan of his SYL project than the Devin Townsend Project

Oh, I know music isn't about singing only. I myself am a guitarist, but yeah, I think since every voice is different, they've become fairly welcome in music over the years. Now if only instrument voicings could get the same recognition.

I realized lot of people here hate Dream Theater... But I know also lot of people who loves them maybe more than it's reasonable. So everything in music is just matter of taste and personality |

Thanks for all the Devin Townsend love guys!!! I didn't think I'd find so much agreement!

Tommy Rogers of BtBaM wins easily for me just based on sheer variety, although he doesn't use it as much on TGM... but I can listen to Alaska or The Anatomy Of if I wanna hear some great secondhand Freddy Mercury-esque vocals
Honorable Mention: Phil Labonte(ATR), Brandon Davis(Across The Sun), Bruce ****inson/Tobias Sammet(Iron Maiden/Edguy respectively, they sound similar) So many more. I'm gonna quit before I have a ginormous list. |
