Although I hate Avril, you're right, 12 year old girls have to like something, and it's better Avril than some pepsi commerial s.lut. And a 12 year old who has any sence of music will definatly figure it out. However when I was young my favorite band was the Foo Fighters and hasn't changed... so who knows.

Why are you comparing "good" (even though I don't like any of them) classic rock/metal bands to bad current ones? Can't I compare Sonic Youth to Journey and make the same point in reverse?

Im not COMPARING, i'm just saying that rock isn't exactly evolving , which makes me go crazy, for these "artists" calling themselves punks or whatever, place deep **** on the music market, and the worst part: it's catchy!.... hm...i'm tired...

I agree that rock is not evoling, in fact I think that the newly found Pop "Stars" are taking over. No one seems to have a mind of thier own anymore, they hear the lastest and greatest on MTV. Since MTV is playing it, it might as well be great, RIGHT?? I have not heard or seen anything good on MTV in a long time. Funny story: The only time I've heard anything good on MTV was when I was watching MTV in a forgien country. Goes to show that there are good bands out there; for some reason we can't see them. They are and will forever be feeding us F'ing Sh!t. Sorry!!

It seriously pisses me off that Avril, Ashley (heartburn queen) and all the other little girls get this ridiculous amount of money for something someone else wrote, and more than likely someone else will sing. They are just walking talking dolls, for the record companies to control.

i agree. why shouldn't I? MTV has become hypnotizing machine filling our heads ( ears) with comercial stuff, but well it's their job. i think Vh1 still offers some good music (old as we speak) and it's worth it.
well...at least some of us still HAVE "a mind of our own" and listen to what they feel is right , not to what is dictated to them...

No, no, no it's not MTV's job to feel my head with commerical stuff. To me MTV stands for Music Television Videos now in my mind I should be able to watch music videos of all kinds. I don't care that they play that sh!tty pop crap, what bothers me is that; that is the only thing they play. Oh they add an occasional hip-hop song, but come on they've forgotten the most important genre of music there?????

First off, those artists that call themselves "punk" or whatever label they want, you have to realize they and their prepubescent fans are the only ones that think so. You are totally mixing up two different genres here. It isn't a matter of opinion, avril and maroon 5 specifically are pop.
As far as MTV, you should be lucky that they play music to begin with, because if anything, it is just another reality show channel. You guys seem to be forgetting that pop has always been "taking over", and to say rock isnt evolving is naive. There is plenty of good music out there past or present, go find it. If you hate MTV and Avril so much, then turn off the TV, and let the 13 year olds have their fun.
