Best Introduction
Listening to John Fahey's 'Layla' and wondering, what other songs have the best introductions? Also thought Sunshine of Your Love and House of the Rising Sun.

I love the intro to Kasabians Club Foot
30 seconds of wafting synths & then suddenly the bass & drums kick in. Orgasmic |
There are several Rammstein songs that sound so gentle and cute before they get going - one with birds tweeting at the start, you think 'awww' for second before the song gets going (in Rammstein's typical way) and therefore as some starts go - they are great introductions.
(I'm sorry - crap at remembering song titles - especially German ones! I have a CD of their stuff that a gorgeous man put together for me and I have no idea what the songs are called - except for Engel - which is a particular fave of mine.) |
I know the one - will check!

House of the Rising Sun has a superb-u-licious intro. So do these songs:
Bauhaus- Bela Lugosi's Dead Tool- Eulogy The Postal Service- In Due Time Refused- New Noise Broken Social Scene- Shampoo Suicide |
Newborn by Muse is a cool intro, you start with a soft, quiet piano before it all stops dead and suddenly your pelted with a raucious, heavy riff. also, the kinks "you really got me" starts with one of the best known riffs ever, and blind by koRn is a good intro too. whole lotta love and black dog are good intros too.

bring it on home by zeppelin is pretty cool. starts off all mellow and weird then page comes in and blows me away.

My favorite intro right now is the intro to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beatles.
