what are you guys thoughts on the Sickness album?

After all you`ve been told you keep on insisting on Disturbed:laughing: The singer sounds like a bad B-movie version of Rob Halford or Bruce D*ickinson......you`ve been warned!

Nah, Draiman doesn't nearly have the range they do. Speaking of Dickinson, is any of his solo stuff good?

I'd say KoRn is better. They pioneered the nu-metal sound and are the best at it IMO. The Sickness is the weakest stuff Disturbed has to offer. You'd be better off getting Believe or Asylum.

Korn have some average albums, but even at their worst they`re in a different league to Disturbed. The Offspring is only a band I listen to in passing...so I`m not the best person to ask. Bruce D*ickinson`s solo stuff is actually very good and gets nowhere near as much praise as it should do
"The Chemical Wedding" is probably the best album but they`re all pretty decent.

The Offspring are totally different than the other two, so I don't think they could really be compared. KoRn has some good albums but other than their first two they have a TON of filler tracks. And their last 3 albums have been pretty terrible. As far as who makes better nu metal I would say KoRn, simply because Disturbed only released one nu metal album, The Sickness (by far their worst too).

I would recommend Ten Thousand Fists to you, but Believe is still my favorite. TTF has the most single hits and such and was the first to contain guitar solos.

If you are expecting brootal metal you are wasting your money. If you think the band or singer is trying to emulate Judas Priest than you are wasting your money. They have their own sound, and describe themselves as hard rock. If genre classifications and these delusions of imitations are ignored, you will probably enjoy it as a SOAD fan.

Buy yeah I would go with Ten Thousand Fists

Disturbed is more musically talented than the others, mainly because of guitarist Dan Donegan. I find that most either like David Draiman's vocals, or they simply don't. Disturbed is by far the best (talented) rock band out of all three. (I do admit), their music does get repetitious sounding.

I like Korn, but their level of music talent goes no further than the uniqueness of Jonathan Davis as a lead vocalist. The band musically, basically consist as having a very loud rock/funk style rhythm section only. Their musical style borders very close, going in & out of the Nu-Metal & Funk Rock genre.

Offspring is different as a rock band in style, with a couple of good songs, but like Korn also, their lead vocals are the only unique thing going on for them. Ive never been impressed with their sound much, musically or vocals. They seem to get irritating quickly when listening to their music, personally.

Good point Necro. I always thought Dan Donegan was underrated. His riffs are relatively simple (unless compared to KoRn or The Offspring of course, then they sound ultra-technical), but are always different and fun. Yes, I described them with the word "fun". David is pretty hit or miss depending on your tastes. I personally like his voice (and yes I would argue it is powerful, even if it doesn't have the range of some power metal bands he is compared to for some reason).

Disturbed haterz rejoice though, the band is going on hiatus after the Mayhem and Download festivals. Internal reasons...that's pretty much all I know.

Now that I think about it, if Disturbed had a second guitarist the band could have gone so much further. I think it could have put them in a different league, as the other musicians in the band were technically competent.

Donegan is ranked within certain popular guitar polls taken, I personally like his innovative effects and dynamics aspect as a guitarist more so, than him being a renowned technical guitarist.

Disturbed with a second guitarist? I can really see your point and there might be something to it, if..they had--had one. But at the same time, I personally like Disturbed as a 3-piece band. They are one of my favorite, awesome live. Their driving bassist and kick ass drumming is the heart & soul of Disturbed sound.

I can see that. It's just that I think a second guitarist working with Donegan would help create some really cool tunes. If Dan can do what he does alone, imagine two of them up there! Maybe if the band does break up Dan will join or create a band containing twin guitarists.
