Go back and read the queen post where they quoted "we will rock you", these aren't fans of bands, there fans of radio stations and greatest hits discs.

Oooh harsh! Fair but harsh!

Obviously directly at me - I'm not 18, I'm 38 and have been listening to music for a good while (not the time you indicate!).

Crap to you may NOT be crap to other people - its simply opinion - which we are all entitled to. So I take on board that you don't like the top 100 listed here in this thread - and you obviously have a low opinion of me and my choice of music but I'd appreciate it if you didn't put your views of ME on this board - but that solely of the music.

It's really fine if you don't like the choices in the top 100 but it's apparent that the listener of PR do. End of!

*off soapbox*

Can't see how that post relates to you, KW - on balance maybe I should have read it more carefully..

Musically snobbery is lame.

Kentucky Woman 01-03-2005 01:59 PM

Well I know it was me. C'est la vie.

Ah forget it - he's clearly got a stick up his a*se!

I don't think musicbanter is as musically ignorant as you assume we are. You should refer to the top 100 list in the original post, those songs were radio hits as well. Hating radio and MTV has become so fashionable. To generalize an entire broadcast system or an entire website seems a bit naive. Regardless, I can think of AT LEAST ten members on this site that can come up with an equally good or even better list than the one Planet Rock voters produced. :hphones:

Highway_Star 01-03-2005 03:05 PM

heh I am sure! The point was that the list was voted for by listeners. It does only reflect the opinions of those who listen to that particular station agreed.

But the post was made to encourage opinions and debate - certainly succeeded there I feel! :D

And no I have no connection with them - just agree with KW that's it a great station.

HS.

Amen to that!

Unless you wrote the Queen comment way back (and in my brain that could be 3 days or more) it was not directed at you. The point is, if musical banter had its own top 100 it would be god awful and in no way in step with what talent is.

Also, can we end with the "personal opinion" crap. If I was to say the New York Mets were the best team in baseball, yes I'd be entitled to my opinion but in no way can I be seen as correct. I can see Linkin Park having 3 or more spots on our top 100 list if everyone voted and while opinion is fine, the board is flooded with people who don't know music before '88. Get off your high horse, you know as well as I do that a top 100 list here would be so terrible. :finger:
