Pirate metal is nothing more than power metal with a bit rougher vocals and the fantasy theme changed to pirates and wenches.

I'll admit I was intrigued when I first heard of the genre, so I went and downloaded an Alestorm album and was utterly turned off by the whole genre. It was boring and predictable, and that's why I've asked jackhammer to throw things at them when they play at the festival in Germany he's going to.
