Dave Mustaine is Christian though, nuff said. But yeah, the guy who said he hates deathcore, grindcore...I agree lol. I only really like thrash, heavy, and melodic metalcore. Linkin Park's first album was good nu-metal. |

My friend actually just like nagged me about Parkway lol.
Carrion is my favorite, Breaking Point has some awesome guitar, and those are the only two that I can actually distinguish lol. Btw, if you are into thrash at the moment, new thrash band that's sick! YouTube - Lazarus A.D. - Who I Really Am |

Breaking point is one of my favorite songs by parkway but there are so many good songs like it, like the sirens song and 5 months. Carrion is kind of boring, but it was my favorite as well until i discovered there heavier stuff.

I actually don't mind the melodic singing in the chorus if its done well. Its really just the guitar work in metalcore that bugs. The chugga riffs more so than the breakdowns but I find that breakdowns often kill the pace of a song. |

The riffs that sound like they could be breakdowns but used more for verses.
45 seconds to 'til about 1:05 in this song is a good example. Its just short of being a breakdown but fits the song structure better. They use the riff again right after the chorus. Seriously, I'd like this band if not for that nonsense, but those kind of riffs are the most annoying thing to come out of a guitar imo. |

1:43-whenever is a display of the chugga chugga riff thing. Its a riff (and I mean a riff, they always sound exactly the same) that every metalcore band uses and it always manages to completely ruin whatever song its inserted into. I typically like Whats He Building In There? but god damn that riff annoys me to no end.

dude, that's the moshing sound that most metalcore uses in there songs. It's strictly put in there for moshing i believe, and it doesn't bother me at all. You're right though, almost all of them sound the same, no matter what song they are in.
I thought those chugga riffs came from hardcore anyways, i'm not sure but that is what i always thought.
