I think that the only people who really hate nu metal are people who are either close-minded metalheads, classic rock fans, or people who just hate mainstream music in general. Most people I met irl either like/embrace the genre, or can get into some of the more known bands, so i'd say that the genre is still generally pretty popular.

I was into most of those bands when I was 15 and 16. It was wildly popular here in the UK during the early 2000s untill the backlash started. I wouldnt listen to any of those bands now though. There really wasnt any substance to it. It was just fake anger peddled to make money.

I should really hate this this song but unfortunately I like it.
Mentioned them before but I quite like the band Soil. I also like Nothingface. Mentioned before and they are not all that great now but this from their first album is decent. Frig me, I do listen to some crap.

Anyone care to explain the hate towards slipknot? I will admit they did commercialize a considerable amount on their 3rd and especially their 4th album, but i'd say both of those are still heavy and good records. Considering what else was popular around 99, one could make the argument they were doing some things most other bands weren't.

I can still listen to stuff like papa roach and limp bizkit i still like some of that stuff. I'm not a fan of the newer Korn stuff though, I only really liked parts of their debut record. |

I could probably name dozens of better metal acts than Slipknot, but almost equally, I could name a lot of inferior metal acts as well. |

lol that reminds me of Skindredgirl. She loved Skindred so much and only heard about two songs from them. Once she finally heard the album she bitched about them so much.
