I got into the metal scene due to influence from my friend Tim who was a total metal head. The first bands I listened to were Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Opeth. All I still really enjoy.

I remember the first time i listened to Slayer. I bought Reign In Blood and when i brought it home and listened to it i thought it was the most evil and sinister sounding thing i'd ever heard. I was already into Metallica and Maiden but it was this moment that i'd felt i'd pushed my musical boundries and crossed the line into extreme metal. I felt totally rebellious

There are a few who don't like Opeth on here but I am really into them apart from the last album which I didn't like at all.

Opeth is great. They really got me into black/scandinavian metal type stuff. It's kind of like a gateway things. Blackwater Park was the first album I heard of their's.

First album I heard too. I have a good friend who hates the contrast of their music but for me that's why i like them. I like lot's of different shades in a lot of my music.

I love Opeth's last album Watershed, it's incredible. I prefer Watershed to Ghost Reveries.

Oh why not, they're good. My favourite album of theirs is Orchid with Twighlight is My Robe and Silhouette being my favourite songs on it. They have such a distinctive sound.

Same, I was addicted to The Drapery Falls!

I love how they flow from heavy parts to light interludes. I also love how both the guitars and vocals can sound incredibly heavy without being over distorted/pushed. They maintain an incredibly professional sound at all times. Some of their songs are so epic and sweeping, they cover such a vast scape of sound. This, to me, is truly a band that had worked very hard to refine their sound and mold it into something very unique.

Orchid is a great album, just a little to rough for my taste. The freshness of the band is there, but some of the key elements oof the bands sound are obviously absent. I myself prefer My Arms, Your Hearse. This album blows me away front to back every listen. 5 years I have owned it and it's still one of my most played.
