I gotta tell ya. I got familiar with Lamb of God's formula with New American Gospel and As the Palaces Burn, and I've seen them twice. I can't say that they've really taken their music to any new places from what I've heard. But that doesn't mean that they're not one of the best metal bands out there.

7/10

I've always been relatively impressed by Nile. 7/10

How can you not love Exodus? classic band. I have always loved their guitar sound even if the tracks have never quite lived up to their early promise. One from me. A long track but it's damn good:

The Exodus one:

Wow that song was ****ing awesome...that guitar solo totally makes it a 9.5/10.

One sec!

Thread is way out of order. Here is my attempt to fix it. That Intronaut song is killer. 9/10.

Gotta tell ya, dude. Not a fan. I can't help but picture fat people in bonnets and aprons circle dancing at an outdoor cafe. No! Make it stop! I'll give them 3 just for the fact that they've managed to make a band work in a country that still probably has a few landmines laying around somewhere. 3/10.

Maybe not the best for the metal thread, but thought I'd throw some strangeness in here.

I love Mike Patton. Fantamos isn't exactly my first choice for his material but its all good. 8/10

Moar folk metal! Tverd rules.

ElephantSack 04-11-2009 03:52 PM

The beginning kind of sounds like that song "Copperhead Road", I was almost expecting some Southern twang vocals to break in.
The initial riff is damn heavy, kind of like Flogging Molly meets Cradle of Filth. Oh no, operatic vocals. Is that a staple of most folk metal bands?
The guitarist rips fairly well. God, those vocals are killing it for me, though. Guest spots on the album by the Three Tenors, perhaps? 4.5/10
Where are these guys from?

But since were on a European tangent...

The Unfan 04-11-2009 04:10 PM

Operatic/traditional vocals are fairly common but not quite a staple for folk metal. Tverd are from Russia. You might like the band Pagan Reign, its essentially the same band as Tverd but with a more black metal approach to the vocals.
