I am not sure your views on Death Metal, but Therion's first 3 albums are different from what they are doing now, "Of Darkness..." was a straight ahead Death Metal album, "Beyond Sactorum" is a Death Metal album with hints of Doom Metal, and "Symphony Masses: Ho Drakon Ho Megas" was a Death Metal, Doom Metal and Avant-Garde Metal album...

those albums I actually enjoy from time to time... not huge on the stuff that came after, though "Lepaca Kliffoth" was decent, symphonic metal with a thrash influence.

"Theli" and on is when they went really symphonic.

I recommend "Beyond Sanctorum" to anybody who is curious about Death Metal and wants to get into the style. One of the best.

Another one was Darkthrone's first album "Soulside Journey", their one and only Death Metal album before shifting to Black Metal.
