That`s one of their poorest albums you need to listen to "Operation Mindcrime" one of the slickest and most polished metal albums ever recorded. Other good albums by them are "Empire" "Tribe" and their second best album "Promised land"

I like my metal raw and unpolished personally.

So do I in general, but now and again I like it polished up and that Queensryche album is a perfect example of something that shines.

I don't listen to Queensryche generally, but Operation Mindcrime was always kind of a guilty pleasure. I like the story/concept a lot.

Also, yes you should get Offspring's Americana, SoundgardenRocks, but I can't say the same about Green Day's American Idiot...

Operation Mindcrime is a fantastic album. I don't know if I would call it metal, per se, but it is amazing. And a great example of how a super polished album can still sound good, for those of us who like raw, unpolished production.

From Green Day I only really enjoy "American Idiot" and some of "Dookie." I seem to be in the minority.

Bands like Van Halen and DEF Leppard were putting out polished metal back in the early 80`s and even bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest followed suit for a while. Bands like Queensryche just continued from where these bands left off and also added additional prog elements to the mix. They basically made metal albums with production values normally associated with bands like Journey etc.

Is it metal? Most definitely so! Just because it sounds polished, there is no reason to say its not metal.

Why only some of Dookie? other than that I agree with you and have the same sentiment.
