Can't thank you guys enough. I have some music exploration to attend to, some of these bands I fucking loved (Gorguts, Morbid Saint, Demolition Hammer, Incantation the best out of the bunch.. imo) but some others I can't get myself to like the growls. I'm not one to to say, "I hate that screaming crap" but I do appreciate fine growls, and while Watchmaker is fucking extreme, I just can't find myself listening to that.
I'll be back to ask for some recommendations. |

But, yeah, Benton is an idiot. He used to prattle about how he'd commit suicide at age 33(?) to prove he was the antithesis to Jesus. Of course, though, Euro liberals think he's "serious business", and actually have called multiple bomb threats against Deicide shows because, during an interview at his Florida home, he got out a 22 and shot some squirrels. Just when you think an attention whore vocalist of a Florida D.M. band is King Retard, too.... Quote:

"Serpents of the Light" had some decent stuff on it.... the rest up until "The Stench of Redemption" though got retty bad, especially "In Torment, In Hell"... that album is just awful.
"Dechristianize" is a good album, though I prefer the early Vital Remains stuff more. But "Dechristianize" was some of Glen's best vocals since the heyday of Deicide. The Hoffman brothers are releasing an album this year, under the name Amon, which of course was what Deicide was known as before the self-titled album. Kinda sad they have to use the name of their former band to let people know it is them, but oh well.. I look forward to seeing what they can offer.

If this was 1994, I would say it is worth buying Korn... however it is 2011 and i advise people to just skip them.
Beavis summed up my feelings on Korn perfectly in this video:

I do not know, when talking nu-metal, you get yourself into hot water with many metal fan...
the only album I actually still find to be amazing out of all that stuff is "White Pony" by Deftones. There are a few others, but I think the excellent music is ruined by awful lyrics and vocals a lot, such as "L.D. 50" by Mudvayne. It is not really a scene that I think has a lot of long term impact and wears thin very quickly. To me, it is better to just go with the Alternative Metal scene before it... and just go out and buy "Meantime" by Helmet. Stuff like that is more to my liking. Hair Metal, I am not a fan of, can't recommend anything there. Metal is just such a broad genre. You have the sub-genres of, and every sub-genre has its different sub-genres attached to them as well... it just gets so confusing. For me, I guess I like metal more on the "extreme" side, so my knowledge of stuff like nu-metal and all that is very slim. I know some from having friends into it when it was at the peak of popularity and hearing it... I even got into it... but the only album I find I can still listen to now is "White Pony", hence why I recommend that one... but I am guessing you already know that one, so I was no help at all, haha!

do you not have a second hand music store where you live? like a trade shop? You would probably be better off spending money in a place like that.
