I listened to bits of what Mojo recommended but nope, metal still isn't doing it for me. Other than Black Sab my Metal listening is quite low. Why doesn't metal have bands that are appealing as them? And aren't well, shit.

The only band out of them 3 I still listen to is Black Sabbath.

Am I missing out on some absolutely brilliant metal bands? If so, who am I missing out on?
Get you some NWOBHM

Diamond Head
White Spirit
Angel Witch

@jackhammer

Not strictly metal? I can feel a bit of Black Sabbath in there. I quite liked it from what I heard but it's late and the alcohol is starting to wear off, I need piece more than metal so I'll have to revisit things tomorrow. Note to self.

@urban

Same applies, I'll definitely listen to some tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation but it's a bit late to be rocking out. I must remember to come back tomorrow although I listened to "I Am Evil" - Diamond Head, sounded good, again very Black Sabbathy

If you want something really Sabbathy then go with Saint Vitus

Not looking for anything strictly Sabbathy but Black Sabbath are the only Metal band I've listened to and I've thought wow, this is the dogs bollocks.

So stuff along them lines would be the type of stuff that would maybe appeal to me, but I have an open mind. Even if I only had a handful of metal bands I liked I'd be happy cos at the moment I have a grand total of 1. I'll come back to this thread tomorrow with a fresh head and get ready to listen

Sabbath are extremely unique and there is no band that really sound like them (even though most of their riffs have been copied) or if they do they just don`t have the quality. But for anybody getting into metal its the best place to start before moving onto say 1970`s Judas Priest and Scorpions etc before hitting the NWOBHM and then onto say thrash. A slight deviation could be listening to metal or better said proto American metal acts of the 1970's etc such as Blue Oyster Cult for a very different sound.

You could even venture into late 1970`s Van Halen for a more pop metal type sound even though the quality is inferior but there is still some great material here.

So many bands try to rip Sabbath off and do a good job at it but none/most of them still don't have that Sabbath sound. I'm not sure what to suggest to you, but maybe some Burning Saviours would appeal to you? Its basically a Sabbath/Pentagram/Led Zeppelin influenced band. They may be more Hard Rock than anything, but certainly worth a try. I suggest something off one of their two first albums. I would link you to one of their songs but I don't have enough posts. I know Youtube has some songs by them though.

Since no one loves me in the regular music recommendations thread, I guess I'll try here.

Looking for a Power Metal band that's like 3 Inches of Blood, and NOT DragonForce. *shudders at the thought of DragonForce*

Also, I'm looking for a Melodic Death Metal band like The Black Dahlia Murder.

Finally, I'm looking for Thrash, like Slayer (any particular song recommendations for Slayer would be nice as well.)

Thanks!

Well, you can't go wrong with "Angel of Death".
