Ever Circling Wolves
Here's some cool doom, Ever Circling Wolves, from Finland. They're releasing a new album later this year. |

Clean Vocal Groups?
Sup everybody,
I'm new to the site but I've been listening to metal ever since my buddy introduced me to metal when I first met him in Wisconsin and he had nothing but metal CDs. Started off with Forever Sets the Sun, and Amity Affliction and it's since branched out quite a bit. However, I'm not a fan of most screaming in metal songs and lately I've been turning away from the screaming altogether even if songs have clean vocals. So, basically, I'm looking for groups or bands that do most songs as clean vocals or maybe the better way to put it is soft vocals? To give you guys an idea of what I listen to, here's a list: Amity Affliction, Issues (Tyler Carter), Hands like Houses, I the Mighty, Emarosa, Crown the Empire, Too Close To Touch, Aaron Gillespie, Landon Tewers/Before Their Eyes/TPIY, The Word Alive (Tyler Smith). Some of the following; Dream on Dreamer, The Color Morale. Almost all of them have clean vocals that are higher pitched, or vocalists that hit the higher notes. If anybody has recommendations I'd love to hear them. P.S. I realize that some groups I mentioned do have screaming (like Amity Affliction) but I think I've started to pull away from them because I've been finding bands that are predominantly clean, soft vocals and that sounds so much better to me. Again, I'd love to hear suggestions! |

Leprous Spoiler for youtube video:
Voyager Spoiler for youtube video:
Sukekiyo (not really 100% metal, but there's a clear influence. A scream might sneak in here or there, but only because they're so stylistically varied.) Spoiler for youtube video:
Kobra and the Lotus Spoiler for youtube video:
King Diamond (you must have heard him already, but here it is) Spoiler for youtube video:

There are better kinds of metal with clean singing than what you're listening to.

I don't know if you were dissing me or the guy above, but I'd like to point out that I don't listen to Leprous and Voyager myself. I can still recommend them though, since I know them and think they've got talent and style.
Also, Type O Negative rules!! |

Recently decided to give metal a try, having never really looked to deep into it, because of a friend of mine. I get the impression that a lot of the metal he listens to would be classified as melodic metal core, which i gather is kind of looked down on by some. Examples would be bands like Five Finger Death Punch.
I do find it pretty easy to listen to most of that music though, and if that's the gate to some deeper cuts and more interesting stuff, then I'm fine with it. I will say that some of the technical musicianship and unique sounds that are in metal are what are getting me to try it. As a starting point I just bought Periphery's Juggernaut Alpha Album. I'm kind of addicted to the track MK Ultra. |
