Yeah, they are such a clone, it's pointless.
Plus the ambient tracks on the Burzum albums are already overlong, no need to copy that.

They are certainly not bad, I just expect listening to them and thinking all the time that I could just be listening to Burzum, who is after all superior.
But I'll check out the albums anyway, don't want to miss something good because of some stupid preconceptions. Thanks!

Of all the albums newly discovered on my BM binge the last two days I've so far enjoyed "Il Etait Une Foret" by Gris and "Dead As Dreams" by Weakling the most.
So if that rings someones bell recommendationwise it'd be great.

I don't know what I'm hunting for, so I'll leave it broad. Throw some suggestions at me (nothing similar to White Chapel though).
I really enjoy bands like Chevelle, A Perfect Circle, Fozzy, and In This Moment to give you a bit of an idea.

I recommend Silencer

I didn't mind until the vocals came in, just not my cup of tea. Any others?

It appears that you like atmospheric/depressive black metal.

Try these:

Had already checked those out. Ulver are great, no question about it, have been a fan for years, Woods Of Desolation are too melodic for me, Shining aren't bad, but neither the music nor the vocals really grab me.
Your diagnosis about ABM/DBM seems right. But what I mostly enjoy about Gris and Weakling (and Burzum) are the anguished, almost failing vocals. I'm not that big a fan of "classic" BM vocals.
