Agreed. Electric Warrior is one of my favorite albums and i'm not referring this post to the lyrics posted, just saying. I have most of his work on vinyl.

yes, they were good, but Marc's lyrics were often hilariously bad, not that it works against the music

I'm looking for a new rock/alternative or metal band.

Alternative- I prefer the 90's stuff. Everclear, OLP, Smashing Pumpkins etc..
Metal- I like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Motorhead

any suggestions?

90's alt rock is not something I listen to often anymore.... but I still swear by these bands..

As for the Metal, just start with this:

I do not know, with the bands you mentioned besides that... my tastes fall more into the extreme side of metal.... Thrash, Death, Black, Grind... the last 2 being more limited than the first 2.

I would recommend the Canadian band The Smalls. They were moderately popular in the west of Canada, but I'm not sure if they ever broke out big in the east. Their popularity is largely due to their relentless touring all over B.C. and Alberta.

should always be written...

the smalls

No capital letters

Yeah, they have a pretty dedicated fanbase. I never quite got the appeal in them myself, found them to be rather boring to my ears. But as far as bands to come out of Edmonton they are one of the betters ones. But still not on the same page as SNFU, who are the best band to come out of that city.

Recommend them before I do the smalls.

some selections, from their first EP "Real Men Don't Watch Quincy" and first 3 full length albums, "...And No One Else Wanted to Play", "If You Swear, You'll Catch No Fish" and "Better Than a Stick in the Eye".

Had some moments of greatness after that, but not as much as the first 4 releases.

Hi everyone, I'm not certain if this should go in this thread or not but here it is.

Earlier this month, Mastodon and Opeth were in Montreal for a concert. I'm not too well versed about their music catalogue. A friend wanted me to make a playlist of youtube videos of some of their best work. Tough to do when you don't know much about either bands. Before going any further here are some of the tracks that were included (keep in mind that the official music videos are preferred to reduce the chances of them behind pulled from YT)
Mastodon - Curl Of The Burl
Opeth - Famine
Opeth - Dirge For November
Mastodon - Black Tongue
Opeth - Ghost of Perdition

So, what are their best songs that should be included (or perhaps what should be excluded)?

**I would like to link the url of the playlist (it was made on Wavo.me) but I don't have 15 posts yet so that will have to wait.

I recommend Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Disturbed, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom and a whole lot more.
