I'd say Gojira is at the top of their game and the prime of their careers right now. The new release should be amazing. I agree with you about Blut Aus Nord though. What about the new Alcest made you believe it to be a top contender for 2012?

I've heard all of their records and most of the similar bands to them, this album for me sounded and felt like they finally put a cohesive stamp on the style and it's their best written, IMO, has a nice clear production with beautiful tones and great pairings of instrumental and vocal melodies.
It gave me that 'up lifting' feeling when listening to a new album that I haven't felt in a few years, ever since Cynic's instant classic 'Traced in Air'. Surprises me that my opinion seems to be alone, but that's usually the case. Gojira I'm not really a fan of. They're great by all means, but don't affect me in any way. |
