Dunno... I'd say the bad music rate has increased by a little bit... Due to the founding of nu metal and pop punk, respectively.... And rap hip having lost a lot of the creative potential it had in previous decades... Save a few great artists.... The Roots, Jurasic 5, MF Doom, etc.

The 70s did have it's share of crap though, like Journey.... But bands like Five For Fighting have taken Journeys processed mush and made it even mushier.

Pop-Punk wasn't founded recently at all...

I think old Green Day and Offspring are great, though i'm probably alone in that belief.

I refuse to consider all those stupid MTV McPunk bands like simpleplan and GC pop-punk, one cause they suck, two 'cause they aren't. ¬.¬

There are also just more bands in general now though. The ratio is about even. People seem to think that the 70's were all just Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, because those were the bands that were incredibly popular at the time. There are just as many good bands now as there was then; they just aren't mainstream anymore.

alot of the bands are crap, mainly cause they sound the same, rob zombie, foo fighter there good, but for the most part the lyrics suck now, no heart and soul in them.

I suppose singing about Lord Of The Rings is real heart and soul.
