Yay for Thom York!! Yeah, his voice is very distinctive.

TheBig3 06-09-2005 10:25 PM

not any more really, Muse and Coldplay have ripped his sound.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-10-2005 12:37 AM

i think the singer from the mars volta has a pretty unique voice. from that list id have to say cobain and mercury, like everyone else

OH!

I forgot about him.

HunterTyler 06-10-2005 03:17 PM

Personally, i would say all of them are equally distinctive, and in that sense, you will never have a 'most distinctive' singer, as there will be many differant reasons for distinction. Its much like asking 'what is the most distinctive genre, a true answer will never be found. Dispite saying all that, i think the most distinctive singers would be the guy from Muse and Bono

SATCHMO 06-10-2005 04:37 PM

Tom Waits, without a doubt.

Tastyninja 06-10-2005 06:05 PM

I never get confused on voices, even on bands i've only heard one song from. I"m really good with voices. I hope its just me, because i want to be special.

I'd say the most distinct ones i can think of right now are Billy Corgan, Ronnie James Dio, and Dave Mustain. However, that could be because those have been the most recent vocals i've listened to.

holdyoualways 06-10-2005 06:15 PM

out of those, freddy murcery and kurt cobain are pretty disticnt. davey havok is also a distinct singer.

pastor of muppets 06-10-2005 08:49 PM

man to me freddie mercury is really recognisable... not that hes really different or anything, i just pick up his voice really easily

Static-Fear-Shot 06-10-2005 10:34 PM

Ok .. the list didn't obtain anything remotely distinguisable to me .. but l would say Maynard from APC and Tool is one l would instantly be able to identfy. He just has a voice unlike anyother oh yeah and can't forget Dani Davey from C.O.F .Who wouldnt be able to recognise such an obscene voice like at first l thought it was a chick, most probably jeza bel deva, how wrong i was :(

Merkaba 06-11-2005 12:23 AM

I think Chris Cornell but i also think other artists do too. I could instantly recognise terg's voice form SOAD and also maynard from tool.

Josephine 06-11-2005 04:24 AM

I voted for Kurt, my love. He got such a beautiful melancholy in his voice...
But Freddy Mecrury is another fav...

draven 06-11-2005 02:03 PM

How can you have Cobain on there but not Axl Rose? You have bands that souond like Cobain (puddle of mudd being one) but none that sound like Axl

A) Because it's called an opinion....
B) I often had the impression Vince Neil sounded like axl.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-11-2005 09:08 PM

the dude from system of a down has somewhat of a unique voice. so does david byrne (i think thats how you spell it) of the talking heads.

bohemian 06-12-2005 02:40 PM

I say Freddie Mercury, not only is his voice recognisable but it's good. I was thinking of him before the poll loaded actually :)

ArtistInTheAmbulance 06-13-2005 02:34 AM

^Just leave him be, he's completely messed up the entire Name That Tune forum aswel. Replying to his posts wont help at all, just treat him like the lil kid that he is, he'll get bored if you ignore him.
