Basically all Metallica lyrics are skippable.

I'm always going to have an emotional attachment to Metallica regardless of whether I like it or not. And while there are eras of their musical career that I'm apt to skip, I'm not going to shit on them for what I don't like. Bear in mind that most bands strive to complete one masterpiece in their lifetime, and Metallica have at least two under their belt.

All the cunts that think Metallica sucks need to disinter their ears from the steaming pile of shit that's covering them and understand that they were one of the biggest musical pioneers of the 1980s. If you throw away all your bullshit stereotypes, listen to Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets and you'll realize that they encapsulate everything that thrash metal intended to accomplish.

I wouldnt say that. I think some of Metallica's lyrics were great, especially for a thrash band. They could have put in way less time and effort on their lyrics and still been successful.

Can we at least agree that these lyrics are laughably bad:

No more!
The craps rolls out your mouth again
Havent changed, your brain is still gelatin

Oh yeah, absolutely. Not all Metallica's lyrics were good, but I do think a lot of them were.

Which ones do you think are good? All the lyrics I can think of by them are at best barely passable, at worst embarrassingly bad.

Well I'm disagreeing with you but only to a very small extent. I've re-read my posts and I really should not have been using words like 'great' to describe some of their lyrics as thats not what I meant. Thats my bad.

A lot if not most of Metallica's lyrics are average to poor (and theres some shockers!) and also a lot of the lyrics I like are probably then let down by poor verses or poor chorus', ie if you were to sit and read the lyrics through from start to end rather than pick off a few lines here and there or single verses etc then I would imagine they wouldnt read very well at all.

So, I wouldnt describe all of Metallica's lyrics as skippable, if you see where I was coming from. Theres plenty of bands out there who cant put any lyrics together at all.

I always liked Fade To Black's lyrics though. That ones an exception to the Metallica rule.

"Fade to Black" is one I'd put in the barely passable category. The lyrics aren't horrible but pretty much all the rhymes are really weak. The Big3 quote that I have in my signature definitely applies.
