I'm actually a little surprised for that track to be the one to single out. I guess for me it was always one of the stand out tracks on the record. When performed live those opening riffs just sound insanely heavy, I'd say it was a good vocal delivery as well, and Lars drumming may be a little unimaginative but thats case a lot of the time. It probably has a lot to do with the fact I like most of my metal down tempo and sluggish and Sad But True just kinds of sludges along.

I haven't heard the Black album for years to be fair. I used to have it on cassette but I don't even think I have that anymore!

I have to say this thread has gotten me to listen to a bunch of my Metallica albums today. I'm listening to Master of Puppets right now and man I kind of forgot what a great song "Fade to Black" is.
