Geez I'm slow. Only just found out Robert Trujillo now plays in Metallica? How's he going in that role?

Yeah, he joined almost 10 years ago..... I am sure it is going well, probably pays more than Suicidal did.

He seems fine. I'd guess that haven't given him much room to spread his wings. But for most players I'm sure its a choice gig. Complex songs, strong bass riffs, and a decent pay check.

All bassists are utility players anyway (yeah, I said it).

he's not utility? He sings, writes, and plays. He's like the mainframe of Rush.

Indeed, way more, when you consider how big of a corporation Metallica is. Actually, he was with Ozzy after Suicidal, 10 years after Ozzy has turned into a sinking ship that takes everyone together with. He then jumped next to Zakk, though, since BLS doesn't sell all that well (even though Zakk's material ****s over Metallica's, but that's not to say BLS/Zakk is excellent), when he was offered to bass for Metallica he crab walked all over it.

So I guess he's only recorded with them on Death Magnetic?

Maybe I misunderstood what you meant by utility.

Bob Rock played bass on that album.

Anyway...

I do wonder what it's like to join a huge band and just coast for the rest of your life...
