At times I suppose I did laugh but did you not also think he came across as petulant and a bit of a spoilt brat that wanted things all his own way? That album certainly did suck, whenever I have watched that film I've always thought "I'll give St. Anger one more chance" and then when I do realise it still sucks.

yeah he's a d*ck, but the speech impediment/ weird accent he has makes me laugh and it's not possible to take him seriously. Really have to see that film again. I'm sure you like everybody else BOUGHT St.Anger when it came out, i was living in denial for a few weeks with that, I even bought a copy to send in the post to my brother, it was a big deal. Artwork was brilliant though

I wasnt really a big Metallica fan until after Reload had already been released so for me it was the first studio album released as a fan so I bought it the day it came out. What a major disappointment. Its definitely all about the first 4 albums for me, plus S&M. Garage Inc wasnt that bad either.

Also, i'd like to point out that the 4 to 5 good albums the band put out came out first.

But with bands like Zeppelin, who arguably put out the same amount of crap, they get a pass because their good 4 albums came in the middle.

Same with the Stones. If you suck to begin with, and suck at the end, you didn't sell out. But if you're good at the outset and tapper off, well then you did it all for the money.

good point, and the kind of person that throws around terms like 'sellout' in the context of Metallica are devotees/kids with a very narrow view anyway... i mean was there ever any indication that these bands weren't trying to earn as much money as possible in the first place? No. So shattap.

But then again metal isn't my life so I can never get too passionate about it or contribute to all the metal subgenre clashes that go on in the backwaters of this forum. 'dude electric wizard is doom sludge not stoner drone!'

I'm not really a fan of Kill 'Em All, I would say it's worse than the Black Album and about on par with Load. But then, I've never been a huge fan of straight-up heavy/early thrash metal, so that might be part of it.
