^ That would have been a great scene in "Blades of Glory". Johnny R, I was thinking the same thing this AM as I was listening to Exodus - "Bonded By Blood". The last hardcore record I was into was "Damaged", then it was "Kill em All", and thrash from then on.

A LOT of things are more punk than stuff that's labeled as punk today.

Jethro Tull.
A rock band with a flautist? Totally punk. I'd say any music that's at least somewhat experimental is by default more punk than 99% of modern punk bands. That pretty much means Kansas is more punk by comparison so to give a full list would take forever. |

I don't hate the genre. I love a lot of punk music. What I hate is the status and the hypocrisy.
Punk is a genre by the broadest dinition. IMO there are two kinds of genres. -Genres of specific sound and style, which most genres fall into. -Genres of philosophy and approach, which is what punk, prog and alternative fall into when going by their broadest definitions. I guess if you listen to their Garage Inc. album you can hear their Punk roots fairly well... I personally prefer them after they added the metal overtones came into their sound... but i am of course, more of a fan of that style of music than punk at any rate...
