I think no matter what forever Metallica will be referred to as metal. Sure some of there albums prolly aren't metal but they are as a band. I mean I could make a metal band then make like one punk album. But that doesent mean that my band isn't metal anymore.

The fact that they have put out certainly underwhelming or disappointing material since AJFA doesnt change the fact they had 4 pretty solid records before that. That is of course based on the belief that you USED to like Metallica, and you USED to like their earlier material that is now for some reason completely irrelevant.

I think they get a lot more stick than they deserve too. On the other hand there are certain people out there to whom Metallica are the beginning, the middle and the end. These people will buy every piece of overpriced Metallica merchandise and ignore the existence of any other heavy metal band. These people are just as much to blame.
Underwhelming after justice? Thats a self opinion. The Black Album was the most productive album. It made the most money, and did the best. It wasnt the best to me, but it was huge. Load was a very good album too. Re-Load was just the same, but better vocals imo. St. Anger. Everyone hates it. I don't know why, I am a big fan of it. I like the lyrics and the hardcore raw sound it had.

It's an opinion yes, I realise only now you have quoted me that in that instance I may have worded that badly and it probably came off more that I was trying to present it as fact.

The Black Album was the most successful, I'm not sure how you would measure whether it was the most "productive" though, or even what you really mean by that.

Load & ReLoad and The Black Album are decent records but I'm underwhelmed by them. St. Anger I did think was just a massive, epic fail. I cant find many positive things to say about that whereas I can for everything else they have released after AJFA. I thought the lyrics were terrible, even by Metallica's relatively lowish standards. I thought the lyrics were the worst they had ever produced and one of the worst things about that record.

Metallica has a few songs I like but I just couldn't ever get into them. For some reason, I just find it easier to hate them.

Except for Lars. Lars rocks.

Uh...no? I'm just sharing my opinion. My dad is a huge Metallica fan and I just couldn't find myself enjoying their music much, except for a few songs.

Can't even post an opinion without the lame troll comment.

Sure you can but when the comment is "Metallica sucks but Lars rocks"... well... obvious troll is obvious.

No, it's called an opinion and I never said they sucked, I just said I didn't like them. I think Lars is pretty cool, so what? What does that have to do with anything? I can't think a member is cool? Wow. I don't look down on anyone who likes them. I clearly said my dad was a fan but I just couldn't get into them.

Lame argument was lame.

See how that works?
