I've felt A Thousand Suns sounds a bit Floydian to be honest. And the apocalypse concept isn't terribly original either. (Muse have done it with Absolution, and there've probably been other examples) But originality be damned this is a great record and a good example of why the concept album can be a true work of brilliance.

I do realise that. Pink Floyd with rap though, that would interesting....
But there does see to be a slight Floydian feel on this album. And not just the fact that it's a concept album, there are other little pointers to Floyd as well; like the heartbeat and speeches on The Radiance, the Echoes like sound on at the end of Robot Boy leading into Jornada Del Muerto, the strong album closer (The Messenger) that ties the concept well which reminds me of Eclipse and Pig on the Wing. I'm not sure whether these things are just coincidental or not but it still works well.

I remember liking them when I was like thirteen, but that didn't last long. The other day I heard "One Step Closer" on the radio and I almost died laughing. Who ever thought that was a good song? They have some alright songs that I don't hate, but that song is a crime against good taste.

I pretty much started my interest in music with Linkin Park. I think it's just about over for their career though, and has been for awhile, going by the quality of their recent songs aside from a couple, a significant one being "Given Up".

I doubt it, their recent album did very well in sales. I haven't liked one song they've ever done less the riff they ripped off from The Misfits, but their popularity doesn't seem to be waning.

Their lyrics have reoccurring themes of paranoia, inadequacy, and failure. Perhaps the staleness fits the lyrics. They make music about being stuck in an attitude that takes us nowhere (discluding "Breaking the habit"), but maybe that's why there music sounds stuck (reiterate). I enjoy their music.
