I detest Korn's sound with a vengeance. That bass sound that supposedly set them apart seemed like a calculated way to try to make them sound different to other metal bands but it just sounds so unorganic and false.

I would actually prefer to listen to the first Linkin Park album than a Korn track.

Disturbed are so unoriginal it's untrue BUT they are just another band peddling a sound that sold and at least admitted to that. Voices and Down With The Sickness are acceptable tracks on a drunken Saturday night although they have been even worse since their debut album.

So apparently the style of music didn't seem like particularly new territory to me at the time.
The whole package of Davis's vocals, hip-hop inspired guitar riffs that sound like sirens/turntables/dissonance, and loose bass string slap lines? Come on...

I'm pretty sure I never claimed that there were a slew of identical sounding bands with Jonathan Davis singing for them.

The bass sound is fake?

Did anybody do it before and has anybody copied it since then?

I'm just saying that I'm not a vocals guy but I can admit he is a very unique vocalist...

Meh. Like I said there was never much about them that made them stand out for me.

Anyhoo... since I mentioned Shootyz Groove, do you listen to those guys at all? Knowing your tastes they seem like a band you'd probably like. Worth a listen if you've never checked them out.

Fair enough, Janny. I don't need to try to change your mind, I know how you feel.

They sound interesting, but I can't find too much info about them. What should I listen to first or download?

Honestly, I don't know for sure. I don't actually own anything by them. A lot of my friends in high school were into them though, which (according to Wikipedia) would be the era of their debut EP and LP. I also saw them in concert when they were on tour for their album High Definition and thought they were really good live. They just really jump out at me as a band you might like based on a lot of other stuff I know you like.

I have to be in a certain mood in order to listen to either band actually. Often people dislike a band because they havent had enough exposure to them, or simply just dont like their music. When comminting about music without being willing to giving it a chance, one should open their mind to the band itself and back-catalogs, As for my own personal opinion "I dont think that Korn has better material or are better talented musicians than Disturbed", As I am sure that most musicians would tend to agree.

I wouldn't even dare put them in my library as I know better these days, but honestly... did you not love Korn in the 90's when you were a kid?

I never was embarassed to own up to the music that I liked, or liked before. Im less idependent and or influenced by not listening, when others suggest that my taste in music is not up to their standard of what is good music, and all that matters is what style of music each individual likes personally, Im not in high school and don’t have to worry about my reputation here, this is only a music forum. I dont apologize for enjoying the style's of music and artist's that I enjoy listening to, own up to the music you like personally. And I dont apologize for enjoying music that I like. Music snobs even annoy other music snobs.... music-lovers have to know how to talk about music to others without coming off as sounding like their opinion is everything, (as I have also been guilty of doing that very same thing, as well myself.
