Default Norwegian black metal hands down!!!

You know I'm from the USA damn proud of it too, but when it comes to black metal Norway has a lock on it!!! I think it is because mostly not a lack of talent, no it is a culture thing. History wise as the Satanic thing/ Pagan things goes Norway was invade by Christainty, had the old ways pushed out, so these bands either locked on to the whole Satan thing or Pagan thing, and they really truely mean it. As in here, we bought the Christ germs with us, now yeah sure alot of us have a dislike for the church, it is not because it came and took over your land, unless you are a Native American. See where I'm going yeah the bands in the states may sound great, look the part etc, but they to me just don't have the feel, that isthe best way I can think to put it.

That makes no sense. None at all. If you're a White American (or Brazilian, Canadian, etc.) - your ancestors native culture was destroyed by Christianity just as the Norwegians were. We come from the same ****ing place; the difference being those of us in the New World had Ancestors hop on a bought and come to a land where plains Indians got about by lashing their **** to a dog and walking.

.......

Anyways, a few notable bands aside (Burzum, Immortal), I don't care too much for melodic black metal, which was the dominate Norwegian style untill.... well, it probably still is.

New World Black Metal bands I approve of: Bone Awl, Blasphemy, Order from Chaos, Sarco***o, Ancestors, Angelcorpse, Black Witchery, Conqueror, Revenge, Havohej

Norweigan. It is better. While most Black Metal is mindless garbage, Norway atleast had some of the better ones.

Norwegian black metal gets my vote. Also prefer norwegian black 'n' roll, Kvelertak is a prime example of the genre at it's best if I do say so myself.

I probably prefer Norway to USA, but I still have a lot of exploring to do and for the past 2 years I've been less checking out new bands, and more checking out unknown releases from known bands.

Germany and Sweden are also contenders when it comes to favourite black metal countries personally. I've heard Finland and Iceland are also good for bm, but I haven't really looked into them yet. My fav German bm band is Nocte Obducta, and while they're pretty folk/viking my favourite Swedish bm band is probably Manegarm.

These following countries aren't contenders due to lower (known to me) quantity of great bands, but Canada (Dark Forest, Mitochondrion), Austria (Summoning, Mondstille), Hungary (Thy Catafalque, Sear Bliss, Bornholm), France (Blut aus Nord), Switzerland (Samael), Italy (Janvs), Greece (Rotting Christ), Poland, Ukraine (Nokturnal Mortum), and Russia (Grey Heaven Fall) all have at least one black metal band I like quite a bit. I'm probably forgetting something, but that's it for now.

Good shouts, three excellent groups for sure.

Thy Catafalque
I've tried a few times to get into them and they just don't do it for me. I could very well be missing something so I'm willing to return to them. Which album of theirs should I check out?

As per the OP I don't really pay attention to geography that much when I'm exploring music so I couldn't tell you.

Thy Catafalque's first two releases are their most clearly black metal ones, I still need to buy their early works collection because I own all their albums except those two and the other release that came with them. Since Tuno Ido Tarlat they've been much less bm focused usually, still I'll rec a couple recent TC songs.

I would recommend Ashes Dance from Sublunary Tragedies, The Sileni Sylvans and Fauns from Microcosmos, Sgurr Eilde Mor from Sgurr, and this track from his newest album.
