what makes a good band

etc.

Oh wow.

This is so crazy and cooky
Oh man I love this show. (I'm watching roseanne)

Anyhow, it doesn't really matter what the song is about although I'll really like the song if it's something believable/imaginable and it has a really cool message.
Like that new song by Green Day "Bouevard of broken Dreams" I think it's a kinda ambiguous song because I usually imagine dragons and unicorns when I listen to it. I don't know why that is. But the message is cool and understandable.

And stuff like "American Idiot" by Green Day is veyr very cool. It's about something very very imaginable and true to life and opinionated. And although I'm not one for politics, the energy behind the words really really catches me and turns me on although not in the way that yous are thinking.

And the music doesn't have to sound a particular way.
Wait I'm confused. Do you mean like it has to sound clear like you can understand the words the person is saying or do you mean it has to sound like it belongs to a certain genre?
I think I just confused myself more. but maybe you do understand what I'm trying t get at.

Peace out.

(hehe, roseanne's funny)
a good band has to have talented instrumentalists as well as vocalists, of course.
the lyrics should be clever written, hiding their real meaning, so that everyone could relate to them, not necessarily thinking about the same thing. "how does the music have to sound?" it really doesn't matter, as long as the bands' songs are good. the band should know how to perform live (to be entertaining etc)

a good band has to be capable of producing riffs/melodies that have the capacity to live with you. the lyrics i think i have to be either two extremes...lyrics that reflect everyday life- you can relate to and listen as a solice etc... or totally surreal, off-your-head-on-pot lyrics that you listen to as a form of escapism. AND, you cant rule out the image thing. A band has to stick out image wise for me to really notice them (eg. Muse nowadays with their Sci- Fi-esque, cold image or Led zEppelin).

sorry for the essay.

peace.

^^^^i like anything that is creative and unique, not just another cheesy rip of something that has been done already millions of times (i cant stand music that sounds like glassjaw or static lullaby- you know, the pop metal sound that everybody has these days).
lyrics are important. but i think too many artists get away with the same old melodramatic, generic depression lyrics and sometimes i have trouble believing it or listening to it. i like bands that touch on current event issues and give their two cents, rather than just saying f*ck this or f*ck that.

Um. It's about 2 in the afternoon and I'm living off of adrenaline and my brain isn't completed thawed from this morning's headache.
I still have no idea as to what you mean by how a band should sound.
I feel like such a nincompoop right now. And I just fell in love with the word amiguous.

In any case I think a band should sound . . . energetic.
Oh I think i got it.
i think a band should have their own unique kinda of sound. You know the kind of sounds that seperate bands like Nirvana (good sounds) from bands like Pearl Jam (crap piled on top of more crap). You know. Like they should have their own unique sense of style.
And a band should definitely be versatile. Versatility is definitely a plus.
And instrumentalists are as much a part of the band as the vocalists. They should be just as good as the vocalists if not better.
You're absolutely correctemundo

And roseanne is so funny. I love that show.
