And I don't agree saying 'Gobby Noobs' to you is abuse. I was pointing out that when people come here and start hurling abuse at people they're not going to get much sympathy from people if they are banned. You were new here , and you were hurling abuse at people. You were being a bit gobby and you were new. that's nowhere near the same as calling someone an idiot just because they disagree with you. so no I don't think it's decending to any level, it's calling it as I saw it at the time. But if you were offended then I apologise.
And no you don't have to avoid me, where's the fun in that?
Yeah well agree or disagreeing is just letting nature take its course I guess.
I suppose so you do have a point, when I first came on here I actually did other posts but it wasnt long until I saw the Beatles vs Rolling Stones post & thought originally it would be a bad idea to post my opinions on them and knew it wouldnt go down popular but I wanted to create a stir(when I had told someone this during the discussion they accused me of just making it up in order to get attention but that is most definitely not the case) and it made for good topical discussion (IMO).
I suppose but all I was saying was that if you class namecalling as 'hurling abuse' then you shouldnt do it back. (especially if your a moderator IMO).
And dont worry, luckily I wasnt offended at all by your 'gobby noobs' post.(as you can tell Im too thick skinned for that)
Well to be honest I had been avoiding you up till that point but just couldnt contain myself when you wrote of Grunge as rubbish, I can accept that you dont like it (as I never used to before) and it is just down to taste at end of day. Also I thought you mightve banned me again if I started talking to you again on the posts so I just left it be & took a chance today .

So is there any music that WE BOTH LIKE?? Have you checked out any of the non-abusive posts Ive posted. Also I have a Paul Weller alliance with one of your moderator homies!
That way we wont have to argue about it, you wont call me 'gobby noobs' & i wont call you an 'idiot'. As they say keep your friends close but your enemies even closer!

You're both right and wrong at the same time.

A lot of grunge was awesome. Nirvana and Pearl Jam are way up there for me. Alice in Chains and The Melvins are also cool with me. Soundgarden I'm not too crazy about but they have some great stuff and they were super talented so I can't complain about all the people that think they're the best grunge band.

And Mudhoney are very much grunge. They were one of the bigger influences on Nirvana. And like Urban said we wouldn't even have the damn term "grunge" if it weren't for them. Either way I think it's pointless to argue over weither a band is grunge based on their "sound".

It's more of an image based movement kind of thing rather than a serious genre. Seriously, do you really think The Melvins and Pearl Jam sound anything alike?

Well when i hear a band like Days Of The New I think grunge as they are heavily influenced by the movement & doesnt that go fot every genre there is always some sort of image to go with the style of music. For instance Metal back in the day (with the exception of Metallica during their sell-out period) people would associate people with long hair and tatoos as 'headbangers' or whatever.
As for the image side of things it does add character to the music but in my honest opinion it doesnt really bother me what the artist looks like, its more whether the music does anything for me.
& I have got 3 of the Melvins albums I downloaded (havent listened to yet) but they came up as Hardcore Punk & I didnt really download them thinking they were grunge in the first place.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I'm getting tired of that one Nickelback song that always plays on the radio. They don't suck, they just aren't my favorite.

Pretty much as grunge as you can get. I just don't like that term because it seems to have negetive connetations with today's "post grunge" radio pop garbage.

I suppose people have different perceptions of grunge as with I do with you. People who were around at the time and discovered what they might describe as proper early grunge & I can relate to that. But as for me I wasnt and obviously will have different and possibly (misguided and wrong) perceptions of what Grunge is.
Also I agree with the label just being slapped on by the media as with Britpop I might add. I mean if you took the term 'Britpop' seriously it would basically be all popular British music from all times.
