Drudkh are wonderful.

Il était une forêt by Gris is also a great release that's definitely worth a listen. The vocals might take time getting used to, but once you do, it's just impossible to stop listening.

Heart of the Ages by In the Woods is quite good too.

Nachtmystium is another band worth checking out as well.

And none of these are all that brutal on the ears. Accessible...upto an extent.

I'm not really sure why I love Black metal .

Too bad half the bands coryallen2 posted are either not ambient black metal, or are just generic crap.

I second Drudkh,
but also recommend Windir (if you haven't listened to them already).
