Sing Me A Sad Song

As one might guess from my handle (from 'Wang Dang Doodle, by Howlin' Wolf), I like the blues.

Can anyone recommend any rock/metal bands/albums/songs with sad/depressing lyrics? Perhaps something along the lines of Alice In Chains? Preferably no emo or black metal. (I'm not picky, am I?)

Here's 5 classics:
1. What the Hell Have I - AIC
2. Lifeless Dead - Mad Season
3. Behind Blue Eyes - the Who
4. Riders on the Storm - the Doors
5. Black - Pearl Jam

Cheers!

hurt - NIN/Johnny Cash/sevendust take your pick
girl of my dreams and bunkbeds - hayden
creep-radiohead
hate me - blue october (i think they have a song called razorblade or something too)
the cranberries - they are more just mellow then depressing
a lot of stuff by type o negative
lonely day - system of a down
let me out - future leaders of the world (i think spotlight is a name of another good one)
drain sth - they have some songs that sound like a female version of AIC i don't know about their lyrics though
you know you're right - nirvana

i not sure if your looking for more depressing lyrics or the music part of it. personally i tend to find music that fits my mood and not really pay too much attention to what the lyrics are really about. i hope some of these suggestions are what you are looking for.

mofito: Good sad song by Clapton, but not exactly what I was looking for. I guess it doesn't have that small touch of darkness/foreboding to it.

punkrawker07 and jackhammer: Thanks for the suggestions. I notice that's 2 suggestions for Type O Negative. I'll also have to try out some of the others as well.

I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, and like his cover of Hurt. As an aside, it was always interesting that he could do sad songs, then turn around and do funny things like 'One Piece at a Time' and 'A Boy Named Sue'.
