i just thought of this right now..
Tool is like fine wine, getting better with age.. when opiate came out, they tested the water. "Opiate" was good, "Sweat" i would have loved to hear "Cold and Ugly" and "Jerk-Off" recorded in a studio. for a first album, it was OK. then comes Undertow. The first 3 songs to me sound exactly what Tool feels. Intolerance, Prison Sex, and the Sober, which is still one of their best singles. most of that album was well written. Next up is Aenima. Title track a hit, 46 & 2 a true show of the nature of Tool, stinkfist and Jimmy awesome songs.. then like in a finale comes Lateralus arguably Tools best album. its like a continuous story.. opens with a great Bass lead intro, solid song. ~ Wear the grudge like a crown.. <--spells it right there Eon Blue Apocalypse a build to The Patient, as much a song writeen for lyrics as much as the guitar. song 4 was one of their little experiments called Mantra Schism... enough said. some could say it was overrated, but if you knew how to play that song, there are a few almost unnoticeable differences that make it so unique its not even funny, like the main guitar riff isnt unique enough. Parabol and Parabola, have to be played hand in hand, such a powerful song. the lyrics in both songs seem to describe exactly what the guitars are playing. Ticks and Leeches is their albums "angry" song. Lateralus, title track. could be one of their more popular songs and deserves to be. my pick of the album is songs 10 11 and 12, which are supposed to be like the climax of the album. Disposition is the build to Reflection which is the build to Triad. they need to be heard to understood, words wont do them justice. Faiip de Oiad the last "song" is like that thing you remember of a dream right before you wake up, you dont understand it. if it isnt obvious, i completely fking love Tool, im constantly listening to them, picking out the guitar parts, teaching myself their songs.. ...i think i should stop talkign now... that was long.. sorry |

^ i think tool went off and on- opiate and aenima were my two favorites, not so much lateralus or undertow. Frankly, i was very disappointed when i first heard lateralus; it took me several weeks/months to appreciate it for what its worth. I think undertow starts out good, but loses it quickly. im not saying these two albums suck, because i dont think i'll ever say that about a tool album.

i see what you mean..i think the reason why i like lateralus the most was because its the album that got me hooked on Tool. Aenima was their first real full length album and it was good, Opiate was more of an EP than an album. the first 3 or 4 songs on Undertow are great, but like you say the end wasnt as good. the only song on the second half of Undertow that i reallly like is 4Degrees.
and no, you cant say that any tool album sucks, cause u know they dont |
