Jimi Hendrix-Little Wing, the original version although this one is good too (solo @ 1:21)

i have never understood people's admiration for Kurt Cobain. Sure, I'd take him over Courtney Love any day...but that's really not saying much.

Not to really bash him, but I found him to be just mediocre.

Not sure about best metal solos because it's not a genre I frequent. My fave solos are...

Wilco-Impossible Germany, Nels Cline is the man.
Dino Jr-Out There, everything J Mascis does is crazy good.
Stones-Time Waits For No One, Mick Taylor kills it.
Blind Faith-Presence Of The Lord, this is why people call EC God.
