1. Ozzy...ok'ish voice but such stage presence and energy in bundles.
2. Freddy Mercury .... as above but fantastic voice.
3. Lemmy.....rock 'n' roll personified.
4. Axl Rose....don't like him one bit but very distinctive and great with an audience.
5. Keith Caputo...up his own ass, but boy can this mofo sing with emotion & power.

Ozzy
Dee Snider
Rob Halford
Zakk Wylde for BLS
Angus Young (even though he isn't technically a front man, he could be easily)

1. Freddy Mercury
2. John Lennon (if considered one)
3. Ozzy Ozborne
4. Robert Plant
5. Edit: Actually I'm going to have to kick Steven Tyler off of this. I would choose Dave Matthews to be up here somewhere, if he counts.

1. Sir Mick Jagger
2. Robert Plant
3. Jim Morrison
4. Freddy Mercury
5. Roger Daltrey

I think these are the five most important and influential rock frontmen. Virtually every stylistic trend post 1968 stems from these legends.

I exclude greats like Prince, David Bowie and James Brown on the basis that when I think "frontman" I think of the lead singer in a great band that are more or less equals creatively. With these legends, let's face it, they are the center of everything and by far the most talented in relation to the people they play with.
