I'm a little biased because I saw U2 live in the early 90s, but I feel like Bono is more of a "frontman" than Plant, as each member of Led Zeppelin held their own and stood out, whereas Bono possesses a larger than life persona that is necessary for a rock star.

But really, even if one doesn't like Queen, you have to acknowledge Freddie Mercury as the greatest. I mean come on.

Yeah I guess you could say Bono carries the group. As well as being their spokesman which just adds to it. I'm just not a fan of his work so I guess that scews my opinion slightly. Mercury is definately up there, without a doubt would make it in my top-ten.

Jennifer Herema (Royal Trux)
Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
Mick Jagger (1967-1972 Rolling Stones)
Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators)
Julian Cope (Teardrop Explodes)

(not sure I'd call Jimi a "frontman" exactly, likewise Garcia, James Brown... I'd tend to call those guys Solo Performers or in Garcia's case a Band Member)
