Bit off topic but my mate brought round the Kerrang covers CD yesterday, i didn't know whether to laugh or cry with half of them.
The Metallica one was nice enough, but if it points towards what they'll be doing with the new album i'll find it hard to be excited. |

If Metallica saved your baby from a burning building then gave you a kidney so that you could live, would you give them any credit then?

New video on way apparently but why are we still getting pictures of 40 Y.O men doing the RJD (AKA the devil's horns). It's embarrasing.

Of course they can make a good album. Anyone with a good sense of music can make a good album, they just have to apply them selves to the music not to the amount of money they are going to get out of it, which is all Lars has been thinking about for the past 13 years.

I heard the new single earlier today.
And......I don't know. I love the riff, and thankfully the damned guitar solos are finally back where they should be. I just don't know though. It sounds like a cross between And Justice For All and ReLoad. Let's hope not......Hetfield's lyrics still seem to be getting crappier than usual, but even as simple as the first few words were, I still enjoyed it. Until about 4 minutes through the song, anyway. Then he started screaming "love is a four letter word!", and it completely killed my boner. On the upside, the technical aspects of the music picked up pace, and the guitars got a hell of alot better. I didn't like some of the variations they threw in towards the end, it makes them look like they kinda just made up a riff on the spot for filler. Thank God Ulrich has finally tuned that ****ing snare drum. I couldn't stand that damn tin can sounding crap off St. Anger. I've always defended the last album, and still do as an overall album. It was decent, but it wasn't Metallica at all. Hopefully they'll wake themselves up with this album. I can't wait to see what Rob does on bass. |

Metallica is essentially Lars's baby. Of course Hetfield has been there since the start and they both rule the roost but it really began with Lars. The guy got into music for EXACTLY the right reasons but he is a shadow of his former self when it comes to continuing the bands original ethos.
