Well, Metallica are definitely not as great and inspiring as they used to be. I still love some of their songs but mostly the older songs. I think their newer songs sound like poor remixes of the older ones and that's a bit depressing especially from such a great band like Metallica. And I'm positive they're heading further downhill.

I was quite impressed by Death Magnetic. I'm not a big Metallica fan but I enjoyed the album all the way through.
I don't really prefer their old stuff over new, or vice versa. It's all just music to me. I like Load/Reload, I like Master of Puppets, I like Death Magnetic, etc.
