i wonder how many people crapping on metallica for selling out would be crapping on metallica for being stagnant had they just kept rehashing ride the lighting and master of puppets for the last 20 years.

Hey, it's Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I'm the guy that's been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album 'Kill 'Em All' from a mail order catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can't remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I've been listening to your albums ever since (even 'St Anger'!). I can't wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I'll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I'm sure you'll come out and blow everybody's fuckin' minds, because you're fuckin' METALLICA! Good luck. And don't release it until it's kick-ass.
Yours, Dave Grohl. P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet? |

/\ is that actually from something?
Also, I wonder how much the knowledge that Rick Rubin is the producer changes peoples opinions. I mean, the guys invincible.

Up on the Sun - Metallica goes diva on the Internet…again
while the fact that they made invitees of the listening party to remove their comments from their blogs is pretty lame. the idea that NONE of the 'reviews' were negative and that most referred to a 'return to form' coupled with the fact that metallica has tuned their guitars back up to E and started going back to their fast and technical roots has my interest rather piqued for their next offering. |

Metallica really are a bunch of tossers now. They have never been the same since Cliff Burton passed away. Shame as they were one of my favourite bands in the late 80's.

even after cliff passed they were decent on justice and the black album had a few good moments here and there but anything after 1991 they totally lost it.they cut hair,go alternative, release a covers album, hire a symphony, get mad at fans for downloading, release the crappy sounding st.anger.
however i still think this new album could be a step in the right direction if they put out some good stuff. |
