I'm not too hopeful of it being as good as their first four albums either to be honest. It probably won't be as bad as ST Anger though. I hope we're both wrong though. A complete return to their old style would be great.

Nothing could be as bad as St. Anger.

Yeah, that would be cool too. They could explore different areas of metal or add in progressive elements or something.

True. Nothing by a good band like Metallica anyway

Well it could be worse, throw some songs with Vanilla Ice, Barry Manilow, and Kelly Clarkson as guest vocals, and you could very easily have some nasty ass dog **** for a Metallica album.

I've never bothered to find out what St Anger was like i heard it was so ****ty and I'd rather not find out, I'd rather stick to their old stuff but if they came up with a new style that would be absolutely awesome

Alright ya know what, dumbest quote I've seen. How was St. Anger not a return to their "old style" thats exactly what it was. You either get that it was horribly produced, or you're a moron. Sorry, those are the only two ways I see it. People pined and bitched for a more speed record, and they gave it to them. The one concesion I grant was that the lyrics were largely aweful but the music is what you wanted.

Bob Rock said of this album "I've been learning to produce my whole life, for the last ten I've been learning how not to produce"

Who the **** says that? In essence, "I've been learned to not do jack ****"

St Anger was horribly produced but it was no way a return to their old style. Kill 'Em All was fast, but it was thrashy and full of solos. St Anger is not even metal. How can you even compare the two styles?

Let's see...

Kill 'Em All:
Sub-par production
No signature Hetfield 'growl' vocals
Thrashy riffs
Mediocre lyrics

St. Anger:
Sub-par production
Very little 'growl' in the vocals
Thrashier than anything they had released in over 10 years
Generally mediocre lyrics

I honestly think St. Anger was a step in the right direction. It's much more like 'old Metallica' than Load or Reload.
