Soundgarden - badmotorfinger wins, stuff before that is mint, afterwards not keen
Pearl Jam - never really a fan Nirvana - pretty much yeah, bleach and incesticide win for me Mudhoney - never got into them Hellacopters - don't like Miles Davis - like a lot, especially 'rebirth of cool', that's what won me over John Coltrane - not heard enough, like what i've heard though Pink Floyd - aye, good quality stuff. 'shine on you crazy diamond' what a song! Afghan Whigs - love them, totally overlooked these days, pure great song writing sleaze. STP - some stuff is okay Sonic Youth - appreciate them more than i used to do, some of their noisier things are more my thing though, 'confusion is sex'! Tool - used to love them, now am a bit bored of them as they still sound exactly the same A Perfect Circle - lesser version of tool. some is okay. Joe Satriani - over-rated Steve Vai - over-rated RATM - loved at the time, heard them too much in clubs, 'wake up' is still a choice tune though! RCHP - they've been boring as sin for the last 10 years, 'mother's milk' and 'one hot minute' are class though. Alice in Chains - yes, favourite of the seattle bands. Melvins - love this band to bits! got about 20 cds of them, i credit them with almost single handedly starting 2 music sub-genres, grunge and sludge (although they probably didn't, i think they're the first who got both styles right) Social Distortion - not into Black Flag - aye, although much preferred Rolling Band Iggy Pop and the Stooges - not a fan, occasional songs are okay Ten Years After - never heard of them Led Zeppelin - got into them recently moreso than previous, some quality songs Black Sabbath - got into them when i was very young as both my older brothers worshipped them. Mad Season - v. good stuff. Temple of the Dog - liked at the time, not heard it in years. Tad - i remember seeing these support soundgarden about 13 years ago, thought they were decent, never really heard that much on record though. The Clash - some songs are good. Audioslave - aside from one or two tracks this lot are a waste of talent. MC5 - not into Incubus - surprise myself that i actually like these, and even their chilled stuff, not keen on latest Zwan - boring Smashing Pumpkins - 'gish' is masterful, 'siamese dreams' is quality, everything else i really don't like Linkin Park - die, please Blind Melon - nice on a summer's day, chilling out Jimi Hendrix - how can you not like hendrix! Robert Johnson - want to hear more, do like what i've heard Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - nope John Lee Hooker - yes, some. Green Day - old stuff is class, new stuff is good for what it is, they're certainly about the best of the mainstream punk rock bands Wellwater Conspiracy - never heard of them Bad Brains - am a fan Pat Metheny - don't know enough, think i've heard some collaborations that sounded good Nine Inch Nails - used to be a massive fan, think a lot of the NIN edge has been lost recently.. 'broken', 'fixed' and the 'downward spiral' stuff though is still amazing! Mother Love Bone - not really got into them Green River - same Love Battery - never heard of them Screaming Trees - not a fan The Vaselines - don't like White Stripes - actually quite like them, their songs worm their way into my head Pantera - love them, 'far beyond driven' still rocks my socks off, and 'vulgar display of power' was stuck on my turntable for months when i got it at the time! Cream - not bad, not massive fan No WTO - never heard of them Neil Young - not a fan, overrated i think Velvet Underground - like quite a lot of their stuff New York Dolls - not a fan at all Oasis - i wish this lot would die with linkin park! beatles rip offs who recycle their own songs and vocal patterns time and time again, an absolute disgrace to the music business. Radiohead - on the other hand, this band can do no wrong.. AND they've written one of the only songs i STILL can't suss out musically, 'the pyramid song' is just a mind bender, and i love tech metal, prog rock and weird intense classical music as well! Guns N' Roses - get on a plane, with linkin park, and oasis, AND disturbed, and CRASH and disappear. Jerry Cantrell - don't mind his solo stuff but it's nothing on alice in chains i can't believe i just went through that entire list!! |
