'Put Down That Weapon' is my favourite Midnight Oil track but I do think that this is not the best sub forum so I'm shifting it to the Rock forum.

I just gave this compilation a listen -
Hmm, more or less what Seltzer said - wasn't exactly blown, but I feel I'll like it more with each listen

. Admittedly, I liked the tracks from 10,9,8...etc more than Diesel and Dust.
Outside World, Warakurna & Scream In Blue were all great tracks. I'll give it another listen soon. Or maybe I should just give one of their albums a go.

They definitely do grow on you. I didn't like them so much at first, but over the last month or so they've worked their way into my LastFM top 8. Not everyone's cuppa tea exactly (I've been trying to get my brother into some more of their stuff, and he just ain't buying it!) but keep getting back to them - they're music is very rewarding after time.

PM me if you want me to link you up with an album or two btw (that goes for anyone else who's curious too)

An Australian friend of mine really wanted to get me into this band, but I just can't seem to. I really like Beds Are Burning, though.

Somehow I think why many non-Australians can't get into Midnight Oil because a lot of what they are about has to do with the social circumstances of Australia and the issue of Aboriginal land and stuff - all which were very sensitive issues in Australia at the time and something that Midnight Oil brought to the surface which was really amazing.

But regardless of this I still think they're a great band anyway.

Yeah, I think that could be part of why I didn't like them much. Also, I didn't care for Peter Garrett's singing all that much.
