whoa...you should relax a little...i'm not sure i'm right but what i got from this thread is that the world (not only america, by the way) needs great bands like the old ones that don't sing anymore, that the new ones aren't good enough. but i agree, everyone is free to listen to whatever they want and it shouldn't be other's business...ok, i think i should shut up now

British music is in a similiar position. we dont have anybody now who could be mentioned in the same breath as zeppelin, the stones or sabbath. Britpop (which was good) seems to have gone and we're left with this new alternative garage-esque indie. dont get me wrong, i think this new stuff is good, but it just seems a bit bland and empty.

yeah listen to what u want, but music right now is in a very simplistic stage right now, it has happened b4 a long time ago. During the days of Bach, there was about a decade of simplistic classical music and the people who were used to old complex style didnt like it. After that decade it eventually went away, and a newer more complex type of classical music took its place. Wow, that kinda sounds like today. And im one of those people who doesnt like the new simplistic form of rock. So, hopefully history shall repeat itself. Music is supposed to evolve not devolve. What happened to the solos?? Where are the arpeggios???

Everyone has different likes and has differnent moods wanting to listen to music not a rate a band contest or style for that matter. A true music lover never stays in one genre or style or listensto certain bands/groups but listens to all kinds of music. Even if they may not like certain kinds or style keep an open ear to all kinds for example I don't really like hip hop & r&b. but I do like outkast, black eyed peas and some others on ocassion like maxwell and love lenny kravitz. Prince is talented and other r&b and hip hop artist but I don't listen to them on a regular basis. Just ocassionally. I have one prince and one lenny kravitz. I want to get all of lenny kravitz cds he is really good. Music comesfrom the heart and soul and what one creates is very special and wonderful. People need to expand their musical fields and try differnet things you never know what masterpeice is lurking around the corner. Don't knock it til you have heard it!!

I love anything from ambient to heavy metal thrash and everything in between. I could not stand to listen to one style/sound or band/artist all the time..... how boring would that be!!!!!!!

^ in response to that, i think people should not restrict their music taste to simply what is on the radio or on TRL. there are millions of artists that are ignored by the media but should not be ignored by you. talk to friends, go online, read some of the posts in these forums... there is more to music than just mtv.

Lightbulb Destruction of all that reflects

Ok from what i read i can agreee with most of you. and the majority of you leave out a big part. Music rules the world. I mean would all these political puppets that think that manson is a big sadistic maniac have anything to scare you about. If it weren't for music there would be no elections based on fear. How many times have we heard that "Music is ruining the youth of the world" no the people that say that are ruining us. Break free from yur chains. Fu\ight the government or embrace it. Listen to whatever you ****ing want, if it makes you feel good then listen to emo if you want to listen to metal go for it. But don't judge us and call us weird because we listen to Nirvana, stp, deftones, korn, the who, zeppelin, alice in chains, bush, any of that good stuff. But I mean if we didn't judge we wouldn't be sitting here saying we hate emo because they wouldn't have anything to wine about so emo wouldn't excist. So remember if you can't do better and pick up an instument and change the world then keep your mouth shut.
