Annihilator-Alice In Hell Both good examples of the genre, although they did get lumped in the Thrash genre which never sat right with a lot of fans.

Definitely check that out, its fantastic. And I can;t see them ever really being thrash. Im sure they have been put into that along with god knows how many other metal sub genres.

Although the vocals are an acquired taste, I am a big fan of Kind Diamond and they might not quite be powerful enough but they (he) has one of the best pure metal sounds I have heard (this is probably where I lose a cool point):

Hmn. Kamelot and Stratovarius have always been top class for me when I'm in the mood for power metal, though I don't see people talk about 'em much here on musicbanter...
Galneryus from Japan is also worth looking into.
