Steve Earle
Anyone into Steve? A real mix of country and hard-hitting rock if ever there was one, like maybe if one of the Eagles had a son who left California and went to live in Texas, soaking up the atmosphere "down south". Some tremendous albums, in fact nothing bad I can say about him, apart from perhaps "Train a-comin'", which I did find rather boring. Also like the fact that he sometimes references my homeland in songs, like the excellent "Galway girl". I admire too his stand against the death penalty, and the way he has done time himself, paid his debt to society and has come back with such a positive attitude.
A true Southern rocker, our Steve! |

Yeah, I love Copperhead, in fact I only got into Steve cos I was attracted by the album cover! But I would say "Transcendental blues" comes a close second, not forgetting the wonderful "El corazon"!
Some great stuff on his earlier albums too, like Exit Zero and Guitar Town...
